Metrohm Instant Raman Analyzers: Mira

The Metrohm Instant Raman Analyzers Mira are the first commercially available dual-core mobile spectrometers with Orbital-Raster-Scan (ORS) technology.

The spectrometers come with comprehensive, validated spectral libraries for maximum usability and flexibility.

Due to the larger sample interrogation area of ORS, Mira systems are ideally suited for instant analysis of the most complex samples – be they solid or liquid. Two measuring modes are available: point-and-shoot for direct, noncontact analysis in the container or the integrated vial mode for secure sample insertion. Comprehensive spectral libraries facilitate convenient identification of unknown spectra.

Reproducible results due to moving beamer and bigger sampling area

When ORS is used, the laser beam is moving. This increases the aperture size resulting in a bigger spot size, i.e., a larger interrogation area. Even for heterogeneous samples, ORS achieves an outstanding resolution.


Wide range of applications, even for temperature-sensitive samples

The moving ORS can do with a decreased laser power density. By preventing heat buildup of the sample and reducing the risk of degradation or ignition, the scope of measurable samples is extended.


Maximum flexibility – “open-library” principle

The comprehensive spectral libraries allow you not only to identify unknown Raman spectra but also to characterize a broad range of materials.

The library consists of more than 9000 spectra that have been fully validated at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan. Administration of the library is effected by Mira Cal software.


Easy data management with Mira Cal software

Above all, with Mira Cal software you can conveniently store, manage, reprocess, and exchange data.

Within Mira Cal you update the firmware and activate/deactivate the library. Mira Cal is a highly adaptive software that, by integrating your measured spectra, allows continuous adaptation of libraries to your analytical needs.


Flexibility – point-and-shoot and integrated vial measuring modes

There are two measuring modes. For samples in their container, there is the point-and-shoot adapter for direct, noncontact analysis. Samples in small vials can be directly placed into the spectrometer.


Portable – for single-hand operation

Process control and on-site monitoring require portable and rugged analyzers.
